Izvor is a village located in southeastern Bulgaria in Sozopol Municipality. Sozopol is a town and a municipality which includes 13 settlements with 13478 residents. It is part of Bourgas Province.
Bourgas Region is one of the most developed regions in Bulgaria. It is situated in the southeastern part of the country and is the second biggest after Sofia Region. It is bounded by the regions of Varna, Shumen, Sliven and Yambol; the eastern and southern boundaries to the Black Sea and Turkey coincide with the national borders.
The Black Sea coastal areas and beaches with fine golden sand together with the thermal mineral springs provide favorable conditions for relaxation and recreation and for the development of balneological and sea tourism. The dense riparian forests with overgrowth along the rivers of Ropotamo and Veleka, the beauty of the rivers of Dyavolska and Fakiiska, the diverse wildlife in the Strandzha and Sakar Mountains and the nature reserves are a prerequisite for the development of eco-tourism and hunting. Apart from the Silkosia, the oldest reserve in Bulgaria (1933), here one can visit the Ropotamo and Strandzha National Parks, the Duni (the Dunes) and Vodnite Lilii (the White Lilies) reserves, the fiords and the seals cave on Maslen Nos Cape and other sites. To the north and south of Bourgas one can visit numerous holiday complexes and villages which offer wonderful conditions for vacation and relaxation. The region is widely known for its vine-growing and wine production traditions. Archaeological, architectural and historic monuments in the region are favorable for development of cultural tourism.
The village of Izvor itself is situated only 20 km from Bourgas. It's a piece heaven. There are two artificial lakes. An underground river is passing somewhere under the village. 1-2 km away are located the virgin forests of Strandja Mountain. Every day in the village is a celebration, the pubs and the restaurants are more than the food stores. The place beautiful and spirited.
